We've had a great deal of success using telephone marketing for our clients over the last few years. Not cold calling you understand, we've yet to find anyone who's made that work.
However, Phil met up with some interesting people when he attended a trade show in San Diego last year and one of them was trialling an interesting new concept.
It is called Ringless VoiceMail and you are probably as baffled as I was when I first heard of it.
Many marketers have tried calling their customers to get them to listen to a recorded message - most hang up pretty quickly and response is poor.
Our contact has a system that calls mobile numbers without the phone ringing. It goes straight through to Voicemail where a pre-recorded message is left on the prospect's phone. Most people listen to these messages very carefully as they think they have missed the call. The message can also be left by anyone, a personality or their main contact at the company rather than a call centre operator.
We've trialled it in the UK and already had some great responses.
1. One company simply pre-warned his prospects to look out for a letter her was sending them. His split test showed he pulled 3 times the response using Ringless VoiceMail.
2. Another company wanted to re-engage with past customers and quickly got a 7% response.
3. A seminar provider used it to remind people who were registered to attend their free event. They used to do it manually so it saved them time and money, and with a carefully crafted script we helped them improve their attendance rates significantly.
